Information Broadcasting

The mass communication media such as radio, television, films, press and print publications, advertising and traditional modes of communication plays an important role in helping people to access free flow of information. The mass communication media in Myanmar emphasizes on facilitating entertainment needs of various age groups and focus attention of people on issues of national integrity, environmental protection, health care, eradication of illiteracy etc. This section offers in-depth of various mediums of mass communication such as broadcasting, film and print media.

Ministry of Information was formed in November 1964. Under the Minister’s office, two departments & it has been performing the duties of cooperation with other ministries, instructing and supervising on the grass-root organizations with each other, admits to the grass-root organizations, to guide & supervise grass-root organizations. All the subsidiary enterprises & management duties are operated in accordance with the government objectives & supervision. The following are the subsidiary departments & functions,

a) Myanmar Radio and Television

b) Information Public Relations Department

c) Printing and Publishing Department

d) News and Periodicals Enterprise

a) The responsibilities for the implementation of government policy, the short-term and the long-term activities in response to public notice
