Union Election Commission holds meeting with Kayah political parties

Union Election Commission held a meeting with political parties in Kayah State and social organizations at Union Election Commission Kayah Branch Office yesterday morning.

The meeting was attended by member of Union Election Commission U Soe Yal (Kayah State representative), Chairman of Kayah State Union Election Sub-Commission U Than Soe and members, state level departmental officials, representatives of 13 political parties, civil social organizations for elections and chairmen  and secretaries of district and township election sub-commissions.

At the event, U Soe Yal said that Union Election Commission will hold the 2020 general elections that meet five standards: state of being independent, fairness, transparency, acceptance by majority of voters and consistency with the desire of the public. They are working in accordance with 2019 -2020 strategy. He added that the purpose of the meeting is to discuss holding the elections successfully.

In preparation for the 2020 general elections, they are implementing the population data collection drawn up by Union Election Commission, Ministry of Union Government Office and Ministry of Labour, Immigration  and Population for the eligible citizens not to lose their right to vote. Population data is collected by General Administration Department and monitored by Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population. Public collaboration is important for eligible citizen not to lose their right to vote and to produce comprehensive list of voters. He also called for help of political parties and social organizations in educating  public on election. Then, U Than Soe explained 2019-2020 strategy project and State Election Officer U Kyaw San Win detailed  work to produce comprehensive list of voters. General round of discussion followed.
